Collateral Damage was started by two industry professionals with years of experience in home restoration, estimate writing, and supplementing. One of our co-founders also used to run his own company, so he understands the struggles business owners face. Our other co-founder has an Xactimate Level 3 Certification, so we can help manage the program that causes so many headaches!
After working within the industry and seeing the struggles behind the supplementing process, we decided to combine our talents to provide relief to other contractors so that they can focus more on building their businesses. We know that you have a lot on your plate, and if this is something we can do to help you manage that… you will have more time to grow your company!
Using Xactimate (a common insurance estimating software), we write estimates from scratch and create supplements for incomplete claims. We also communicate directly with adjusters on behalf of the contractor to get these missing items included based on photo documentation, building codes, city codes and subcontractor estimates. We are NOT public adjusters, however.
The supplementing process can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months, depending on the complexity of the claim. Quality documentation, completed subcontractor estimates, and fluid communication with the contractors can definitely help speed this process along. We will provide regular updates and request additional information as needed to keep the process running smoothly.
Given that documentation is so important for this process, we can provide training to contractors and their staff if requested. Performing inspections is a huge aspect to creating a quality and complete estimate, so we want to ensure that it is done in the most efficient way possible to ensure that you have more time to sell rather than continuously return to the same property for missed documentation. We can also provide other training depending on the needs of your company. This can be discussed further as we develop a working relationship.
Nope! If we don’t increase the claim, we don’t get paid. We believe in the services we provide and will not charge you if nothing is added. We want everyone to win in this working relationship. There is a minimum fee for claims that do increase which is outlined more in our contract.
Although we have a contract, there is no commitment to work with us. We work on a claim by claim basis, depending on what you need and when. Our contract outlines our process, our prices, and what we need from you in order to successfully work your claims. You can use us as much or as little as you need.
We can assist any general contractor or storm restoration professional within the country. Since we are not Public Adjuster’s, a license isn’t required. We will research and educate ourselves on the building codes in your state in order to better accommodate your claims as necessary.
